League of Legends: LCS predictions Week 6, Day 1
By Josh Tyler
As Week 6 of LCS play begins, we’ll try to advise the Twitter prognosticators as to who will likely win today’s professional League of Legends action.
Only four weeks remain in the LCS season, with all of the top teams jockeying for positioning in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the bottom teams are trying to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. What do we think will happen on the first day of North America League of Legends action?

TSM vs. Clutch Gaming
Although TSM should be favored in this matchup, Clutch is one of those teams that I think is always dangerous to pull off an upset. According to Oracle’s Elixir, they’re statistically better than TSM in almost every measure, particularly in terms of their early game performance. With TSM on a bit of a slump – and facing issues over who will be their jungler – I’m putting out an upset alert for this one!
Prediction: Clutch
Team Liquid vs. CLG
Liquid is the best team in the LCS by a wide margin, but CLG has shown that their earlier victory in this season wasn’t a fluke. Now both tied with 7-3 records and CLG having beat both TSM and Golden Guardians on their recent run, they are definitely riding high coming into this matchup.
Despite the rumors that Team Liquid has been sandbagging this split and not taking it seriously, losing this game would actually be incredibly costly. They’d be set one game back of CLG with the tiebreaker in CLG’s favor. I don’t think the pressure would get to a team full of veterans like Liquid, but given their struggles this season in the late game they have a thin win condition going against the second-best late game team in the LCS.
Prediction: CLG
Golden Guardians vs. FlyQuest
Simply put, there is no excuse for Golden Guardians to lose this game. FlyQuest might be coming off a 2-0 week, but they are still the second-worst team in terms of statistics in the LCS while Golden Guardians are third-best to only C9 and Liquid. A loss by FlyQuest would likely end their chances to make the Summer Playoffs, but a win would put them right back into the hunt for that last playoff spot.
Prediction: Golden Guardians
Echo Fox vs. Cloud9
The worst team in the LCS taking on a team that is solidly among the top three. I don’t even need to entertain the notion that C9 would lose this game. I mean, how absolutely inept would you have to be as a team to lose to a squad with this much dysfunction? *Looks directly at Team Liquid*
Prediction: Cloud9
100 Thieves vs. OpTic
OpTic is a sneakily underrated team, statistically, but they have that maddening capacity to lose to teams far below their skill level. The dropped a game to FlyQuest just last week and dropped another game to Echo Fox two weeks ago. Am I confident enough that they won’t drop this game?
Prediction: 100 Thieves
