After a fairly predictable first day of LCS matches, who should be favored to win Sunday’s League of Legends games?

Saturday’s LCS games went about as expected, save for my one spicy prediction that Echo Fox could beat slumping OpTic falling to the wayside. Almost all the games were fairly one-sided, but I wouldn’t expect to say the same about today’s League of Legends action.

More from LCS

All five of the games should be fairly competitive (even Team Liquid might have to work for their meal) so that makes predicting the outcomes a bit trickier. But, if Jatt can come back to casting the LCS after a two-year hiatus, we can make our meaningless picks.

Golden Guardians (6-7) vs. Team Liquid (10-3)

Golden Guardians returned the karmic favor from last week after they were gifted a win by CLG and TSM gifted a win away, they gave away a 5k gold lead to TSM. This was the easier of their games from the weekend, so now they have to take down Liquid if they want to gt back to .500 and hold their lead for the final playoff spot.

Liquid, on the other hand, breezed past Clutch with no issues today, closing the game out in just over 28 minutes. There are a lot of close matchups on the top side of the map (Hauntzer vs. Impact is the one I’ll be watching closest) but Liquid’s massive advantage on the bottom-side of their roster should continue to carry them.

Prediction: Liquid

CLG (8-5) vs. Cloud9 (9-4)

The biggest playoff implications game of the day, by far, a Cloud9 win would virtually assure them one of the first-round byes with two weeks to go (assuming they don’t drop another uncharacteristic game to a team like Echo Fox). In their first meeting of the season, C9 won, so CLG will need to take this game to prevent losing the tiebreaker should the teams end the season tied in the standings.

Both teams took care of business on Saturday, with CLG beating FlyQuest and C9 beating 100 Thieves, as expected. Every one of the lane match-ups is fairly close, so I’ll be focusing on one single player: Sneaky. If he can pull himself out of this funk he’s been in all summer, C9 should be favored, but if he has a poor game I think CLG has a massive advantage.

Prediction: CLG
