League of Legends LCS power rankings – Week 7
By Josh Tyler
The LCS Summer Split is almost over and playoffs are near. Which League of Legends teams are in, out, and still fighting for their spot?
The professional League of Legends season is almost over for NA, with the LCS Summer Split Playoffs only two weeks away. In Week 7, Team Liquid became the first team to officially clinch a playoff spot, CLG tied themselves with Cloud9 after winning the final head-to-head matchup between the teams, TSM and Golden Guardians squandered chances to solidify their playoff positions, and the playoff dreams of Clutch and 100 Thieves remained alive.

Using stats from our friends at Oracle’s Elixir, we’ve broken down how each League of Legends team in the LCS stacks up against each other in terms of key stats. We’ve also used those stats to gauge the quality of each team’s wins and losses, as well as grade their strength of schedule going into the last two weeks. Which teams are in the best position after Week 7.
10. Echo Fox (3-11)
It’s all over but the crying for Echo Fox, who dropped both their games this weekend to OpTic and Clutch to keep any semblance of playoff hopes alive. Mathematically they’re not eliminated yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
Remaining Schedule: TSM/CLG, Liquid/FlyQuest
Remaining Strength of Schedule: F
9. FlyQuest (4-10)
Similar story for FlyQuest, who fell two games back of the pack fighting for that final playoff spot. The only bright side for FlyQuest is that they will get a couple of winnable games against Echo Fox and Clutch. Unfortunately, the best case puts them at 6-12 which is unlikely going to be good enough to sneak into the playoffs.
Remaining Schedule: Cloud9/Clutch, TSM/Echo Fox
Remaining Strength of Schedule: A
8. 100 Thieves (6-8)
Clinging to life, 100 Thieves did what was expected of them in Week 7, beating FlyQuest and losing to C9. Combined with Golden Guardians going 0-2 on the weekend, the Thieves now have fate in their own hands, as they’ll face both the teams they are tied with for that sixth spot – Golden Guardians and Clutch Gaming – in the last two weeks of the season.
Remaining Schedule: Golden Guardians/TSM, Clutch/CLG
Remaining Strength of Schedule: C
7. Golden Guardians (6-8)
Although Golden Guardians didn’t have the easiest of weekends – facing TSM and Liquid – they’re certainly going to look at Week 7 as a missed opportunity. Golden Guardians had over a 5k gold lead on TSM only to (as so many other LCS teams have done this split) choke away their lead.
Had they held on to go 1-1, not only would they still have a one-game lead over the other teams for the last playoff spot, but they would have also been tied with TSM at 7-7 (assuming TSM does still lose to OpTic in that alternate timeline). Instead, they’re slipping in the standings with a fairly tough schedule coming up, but they will face both 100 Thieves and Clutch so they have some control over their destiny.
Remaining Schedule: 100 Thieves/OpTic, Cloud9/Clutch
Remaining Strength of Schedule: C
6. Clutch Gaming (5-7)
Clutch took care of business on their ends as well, beating Echo Fox in their winnable game before getting smacked around by Liquid. I’m rating Clutch higher than the other two just because they’ve shown to be a statistically stronger team in terms of their early game play, but this is a team that has been posting solid statistics all year and not translating them to wins. It’s put up or shut up time now.
Remaining Schedule: CLG/FlyQuest, 100 Thieves/Golden Guardians
Remaining Strength of Schedule: B
