Who is the best support in the League of Legends 2019 Worlds?

We’ve already looked at who the best top lanersjunglers, mid laners, and ADCs playing in the League of Legends 2019 Worlds are. Today we will grade and rank every single starting support based on their statistical performance during their domestic 2019 Summer Split regular-season performance. We’ll be using the same metrics we used to evaluate the other positions, but the ratings here will be relative to other supports.

More from International Tournaments

Here are the average statistics among the 24 supports at the World Championship:

  • Average Kill Efficiency = 2.73
  • Average aGPM = 265.9
  • Average aDPM = 194.8
  • Average VSPM = 2.38
  • Average laning score = 0.00

How do the supports at the World Championship compare to each other? Who is the best mid laner in the World?

24. Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme (Clutch Gaming) – 65 OVR

One of the worst laning supports at Worlds with a -0.59 Laning Score, Vulcan hasn’t exactly benefitted from playing alongside one of NA’s stronger laning ADCs in Cody “Cody Sun” Sun (who himself boasts a 0.30 Laning Score). The fact that Vulcan averages 2.56 deaths per game and has the second-lowest Kill Efficiency (1.55) and adjusted KDA (1.61) indicates that he could be an anchor holding back Cody Sun from even greater accomplishments.

23. Barış “Tolerant” Çepnioğlu (Royal Youth) – 66 OVR

Putting up below-average laning stats (-0.31 Laning Score) and kill participation numbers (92.1% adjusted kill participation) is not going to get Tolerant very high on our rankings. Especially when he’s paired with the best ADC from the non-major regions in Pilot and not taking advantage of the fact that he’s been savaging weak TCL competition.

22. Wang “Ysera” Tsung-Chih (AHQ) – 66 OVR

There are a lot of things that can be forgiven as a support, but poor vision control isn’t one of them. Ysera is not only a below-average laner (-0.29 Laning Score), but he is also in the bottom half of all supports when it comes to vision score per minute. His 2.24 VSPM is bad, but at least Ysera has the excuse of having to carry around the worst ADC at Worlds through lane.

21. Bùi Nguyễn “Venus” Quốc Hoàng (Lowkey) – 68 OVR

A big indication as to how valuable a support is to his team, in my opinion, is how well he facilitates his carries through assists and not dying. With a 91.6% adjusted kill participation (the worst for all supports at Worlds), Venus has demonstrated that he does not enable his carries. He has the lowest raw KP of any support in the tournament (62.5%).
