TFT Patch 10.5 Breakdown: The Infernos are Blazing
By Josh Tyler
The latest TFT patch notes have dropped, bringing a new meta in Patch 10.5.
Patch 10.5 is not only going to change the TFT meta but, with the announcement that the TFT Galaxies and Set 3 are hitting PBE today, Patch 10.5 is also likely the last patch for Set 2. This means that this will be the final patch for players looking to make that ranked climb and push for the newly-announced rewards! Here’s everything you need to know about Patch 10.5!
Traits
Blademaster
"Proc Chance: 35 ⇒ 40%"
Blademasters have been growing in popularity with the Assassinuo and Azir/Yasuo comps in a similar throwback to the Blender comps at the beginning of the season. This buff will probably make those Blademaster-focused comps even better in Patch 10.5 and maybe even allow the season to come full circle back to the OG Blender with Nocturne, who got several buffs after the initial Blender craze died down.

Electric
"Damage: 80/250/500 ⇒ 80/250/550"
It’s a buff to the full Electric comps, aka 6 Electric, which has never been any sort of a meta comp throughout Set 2. I highly doubt that full Electric comps are going to become a powerful option in Patch 10.5 and this trait will likely be among those to never get a moment in the sun.
Glacial
"Bonus Damage: 75/175/350 ⇒ 75/175/375"
On the other hand, full Glacial comps could become a thing as a result of these buffs, even though the buff to 6 Glacial is far smaller than the 6 Electric buff. I don’t think it would be incredibly common, since you’d want to build around either Olaf or Ezreal, and both get more out of speccing into their other traits (Berserker and Ranger, respectively). However, maybe if you get like 3-star Warwick early this could be okay.
Tier 1 Champions
Diana
"Shield Duration (Seconds): 3 ⇒ 4"
This is a decent buff, but I can’t help but feel that it would have been more meaningful if it came during that period when Inferno was a stronger synergy. Right now it’s in a decent spot, but it’s largely overshadowed by Shadow or Light. I think Inferno is still solid and Diana will be stronger as a result, but I’m not sure how much her presence goes up just from the way the meta is now.
Leona
"Shield Duration (Seconds): 5 ⇒ 4"
She’s been one of the best early game units in TFT just by virtue of her synergies and she can be incredibly frustrating to face in the early game when your units are far weaker. Reducing the duration of her damage reduction in Patch 10.5 is a welcome change and she should still be strong enough to function.
Zyra
"Starting/Total Mana: 0/75 ⇒ 0/65"
Combined with the Diana buffs, this could make early Infernos more attractive (Zyra + Diana + Varus/Kindred). In addition, Inferno/Summoners have always had an insane synergy considering Zyra and Annie both fit the bill, so this buff likely also makes the late game comps around Inferno better as well. I think Zyra has always been a fairly good unit early and even scaling so expect to see a lot more of her.
Tier 2 Champions
Syndra
"Spell Damage: 175/350/600 ⇒ 225/375/650"
50 damage at 1-star?? Syndra is already a very strong unit by her innate synergies (Ocean/Mage) so giving her 50/25/50 damage is going to be huge for her, especially early. Ocean/Mage could become a much stronger early synergy as a result.
Yasuo
"Mana: 0/85 ⇒ 0/90"
This hurts Yasuo, but it doesn’t kill him. While he is more concerned about using his ult rather than auto-attacking as much as some other Blademasters, 5 additional mana is only going to lock him out of his ult in a small number of cases.
