The latest League of Legends patch notes are out, so here are the biggest changes coming in Patch 10.25!

As we near the end of the year, we also approach the coming start of League of Legends Season 11! That’s a joy to many who have been slogging through playing ranked during the preseason, and Patch 10.25 inches us forward towards a new ranked season. Let’s go through the latest League of Legends patch notes to see what the biggest changes will be (apart from the new Battle Queen and Elderwood skins and Rell’s release).

1. Solo Lane Pantheon Update

Riot’s goal with these changes is to remove some of the utility that has made Pantheon such a beast in the support role, while also giving his bruiser/fighter build some more oomph in terms of damage. Gaining armor penetration on his ultimate, as well as reducing the cooldown on his Comet Spear should make him much more of the roaming solo laner that was envisioned after his rework. I’m not sure how much this really pulls Pantheon out of the support role, but it should make top and mid Pantheon more viable, which is what Riot was aiming for in Patch 10.25.

2. ADC Items Buffed

"GaleforceATTACK DAMAGE: 55 >>> 60CLOUDBURST COOLDOWN: 90 seconds >>> 60 secondsTyphoon ClawsATTACK DAMAGE: 75 >>> 80Essence ReaverATTACK DAMAGE: 50 >>> 55ZealTOTAL COST: 1200 gold >>> 1050 goldRapid FirecannonTOTAL COST: 2700 gold >>> 2500 goldPhantom DancerTOTAL COST: 2700 gold >>> 2500 goldMortal ReminderTOTAL COST: 2900 gold >>> 3000 goldATTACK DAMAGE: 30 >>> 40Lord Dominik’s RegardsATTACK DAMAGE: 30 >>> 35Infinity Edge[REM] CRIT SCALING: Infinity Edge no longer grants critical strike damage scaling with critical strike chance (max 40% at 100% crit chance)[NEW] THIS IS CRITICAL: If you have at least 60% critical strike chance, Infinity Edge now grants 35% Critical Strike Damage."

Across the board, ADCs saw most of their items buffed in terms of raw AD or reduced cost. Although “5 AD” is a fantastic meme, the reduced cost of items like Zeal, Phantom Dancer, RFC, and Mortal Reminder all make sense given how quickly we are seeing tanks hit their key item spikes.

In Patch 10.25, Galeforce also got an AD buff, as well as a buff to the cooldown on its active. As the least-popular Mythic item among AD Carries, this makes sense, but I’m not sure how much this helps ADCs. It’s still unlikely that you’ll be able to use the active more than once per teamfight, and it will still be up by the next teamfight.

The final change to ADC items in Patch 10.25 is for Infinity Edge. This change is intriguing because it allows crit marksmen to stop building crit once they get to that 60% crit chance threshold. At that point, you’ll be maxed out at crit damage, so you don’t need to prioritize crit strike chance and can transition to penetration, life steal, or other defensive/utility items. However, since crit damage no longer directly scales with crit chance, this will also leave ADCs a bit weaker early in the game.

3. Jungle Balance Changes

Now those are a lot of changes to junglers and I know you came here looking for the tl;dr of the patch notes. The point is that there are a lot of changes coming to the jungle meta thanks to the new jungle items in Preseason 11. But to break all these jungle changes in Patch 10.25 down rapid-fire style:

  • Amumu is nerfed, probably out of the top-tier junglers. Been fun buddy.
  • Tank Gragas might be coming back, god help us.
  • Kayn nerfs are not that serious. He’s still probably in the A tier of junglers or above even after the nerfs.
  • Buffs to Lee Sin are potentially impactful, particularly the reduced cooldown on Safeguard, as it lets him clear healthily and opens up more opportunities to outplay in fights.
  • Taliyah is still unviable and those buffs are a joke. The Warped Ground changes that were on PBE were probably a better means to help her out.
  • Ekko, Ivern, Karthus, Nidalee, Rengar, Warwick, and Wukong buffs are all small, likely not that impactful, but may bump up their power slightly.

4. Support Item Changes

At the same time Riot is trying to help out AD Carries by buffing their items, they’re also, curiously, helping out supports by buffing almost all of their Mythic items in terms of cost. Now, this does come at the expense of the user’s reduced damage, healing, and shielding (any buffs of damage to allies is unchanged or actually improved). This should push supports towards being more utility and less, you know, able to 1v1 a marksman in Patch 10.25.

5. Tank Item Nerfs

"Bami’s CinderTOTAL COST: 1000 gold >>> 1100 goldSunfire AegisHEALTH: 450 >>> 350Frostfire GauntletSNOWBIND FROST FIELD RANGE: 275 >>> 250MYTHIC INCREASED SIZE: 7.5% >>> 6% (Reminder that Immolate and Snowbind’s effect ranges also scale with your champion’s size)Turbo ChemtankSUPERCHARGED SLOW DURATION: 2 seconds >>> 1.5 seconds"

Tanks were still ridiculously strong, so Riot is taking another hit to their power in Patch 10.25 by nerfing all of the tank Mythic items. The Bami’s Cinder cost increase is particularly taxing for tanks in the jungle, because that is at least two more camps of gold that they will need to clear in order to secure that Bami’s item.

Next. Top Broken Builds to Abuse in Preseason 11. dark

However, reduced field range on Frostfire Gauntlet and the reduced slow duration on Turbo Chemtank are also going to be particularly damaging for those tanks that need the utility to close the gaps. Champs like Volibear, Cho’Gath, Singed, Garen, and even Udyr are going to be in trouble now that they’ve lost some of that precious utility and the cost of their primary component is going up.
