League of Legends: Ranking All The Best Garen Skins

Garen is one of the first champions that new players will get to play when they load into a game of League of Legends, and he is one that many players have a strong attachment to. As one of the oldest champions in the game, the Might of Demacia has one of the largest skin collections as well.

With twelve skins in his collection, Garen mains have plenty of choices. From Steel Legion to the Mecha Kingdoms skins, we are going through of his skins, ranking them from worst to best.

12. Dreadknight Garen

Price: 975 RP

This is one of those “coat of paint” skins, where the champion is simply re-colored. In this case, it’s the black Garen skin, with no other new animations or effects to justify this higher price point.

11. Sanguine Garen

Price: 520 RP

Another “coat of paint” skin, this is the red one. The only reason this rates ahead of the Dreadknight skin is the price, which is far more palatable.

10. Rugged Garen

Price: 750 RP

Now we get into the territory of skins that are okay and somewhat unique from the base skin, but just not a high enough quality to make them worth purchasing. In the case of the Rugged skin, you can see the few details that make it different from the base skin, but otherwise, it’s entirely unremarkable.

9. Commando Garen

Price: 520 RP

Just like the Rugged skin, Commando doesn’t have nearly enough new animations or effects to make it worthwhile to purchase. The only real advantage Commando has over the Rugged skin is the cost.

8. Rogue Admiral Garen

Price: 750 RP

Now we get into the territory of skins that aren’t ugly and might actually be worth purchasing. Rogue Admiral fits that bill, as it outfits the Might of Demacia with an eyepatch and a very deep V in his shirt. It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it’s a fine skin nonetheless.

7. Desert Trooper Garen

Price: 520 RP

Another cheap, but still nice skin, the Desert Trooper stands out mostly for how it reconfigures Garen’s sword. Instead of the massive, thick, straight blade, Desert Trooper gives the sword a nice round curve that makes this skin stand out.

6. Steel Legion Garen

Price: 1350 RP

Now we start getting into the higher-quality skins. Although Steel Legion has a lot of cool effects and it looks gorgeous, it gets outclassed by many of the other high-end skins.

5. Mecha Kingdoms Garen

Price: 1350 RP

Like Steel Legion, the Mecha Kingdoms skin has all the new effects and animations to justify the price point. What pushes this slightly over the edge is the fact that the Mecha Kingdom skin fits into a line with others and the fact that you can get the Prestige edition as well.

4. Warring Kingdoms Garen

Price: 1350 RP

Another unique skin, which outfits Garen with a green-tinted blade. This skin came as a part of the 2017 Warring Kingdoms event for the Lunar New Year, so it’s also a good skin to round out that collection as well. As for this iteration, the animations and effects are nice, but nothing incredibly special.

3. Battle Academia Garen

Price: 1350 RP

I was shocked in looking at this skin how good it looks. The Battle Academia skins are often a bit too anime (if that makes sense), but this is actually a very good balance of keeping with the Battle Academia theme while also not completely messing up the essence of the champion. Garen just fits the Battle Academia theme and Riot manages to pull it off.

2. Demacia Vice Garen

Price: 1350 RP

The Demacia Vice skins were a huge hit when they came out and Garen’s was no exception. With the neon 80’s colors and vibe, this skin is easily one of the best in his collection. League of Legends players are still waiting for the next champions to join the squad.

1. God-King Garen

Price: 1820 RP

Against this collection of 1350 RP skins, it’s incredible that the most expensive skin in the collection managed to prevail. But the God-King skin just brings so many cool effects and animations that it has to top this list. Seeing the wolf spirit interact with the Might of Demacia is just so incredibly cool, it justifies the extra few hundred RP you’ll spend.
