2021 LCS Summer Split: Is Dardoch Enough To Push Immortals Past Dignitas In Standings?
Team Immortals bring on former Dignitas jungler ‘Dardoch’ as their new assistant coach in the middle of their push for LCS playoff seating.
After his exit from Team Dignitas, Joshua ‘Dardoch’ Hartnett has found a new home with regional competitor Immortals as an assistant coach. Immortals at this point don’t have a chance of even sniffing a top 3 spot in the LCS standings, barring a major collapse from TSM, Cloud 9, or 100 Thieves. However, right now they do sit right outside of a playoff spot with none other than Team Dignitas in their way. This coaching pick up could be for many reasons but it could be that Immortals are making a strategic play to secure the 6th spot.

Who better to help guide Immortals past Dignitas than the teams former starting jungler? Dardoch will know the teams tendencies as well as how to exploit them in-game. Unfortunately IMT only has one more game against DIG scheduled for the rest of the split. But, a fresh pair of eyes may be what it takes to help them win some of the tougher matchups they have coming up.
Dardoch hasn’t had the greatest success as a player over his seven year career in the LCS. He’s actually somewhat of a journeyman in the LCS, often bouncing from team-to-team as a result of his “toxic” behavior. But with the large amount of starting experience under his belt it’s fair to say that he has a lot of situational knowledge that will help Immortals immensely.
If we’re talking strength of schedule the upper hand without a doubt goes to the Immortals who have more matchups with the bottom three teams in the LCS than Dignitas. This doesn’t mean that they’re incapable of being upset in some of those matchups, but it’s safe to assume that Immortals will easily pull those out.
My bet is that Dignitas will tough it out and lock up the 6th spot as we get closer and closer too the playoffs. However, the Dardoch acquisition has made this race very interesting and it’ll be a treat to see how everything plays out.
