We break down all the changes coming to League of Legends in Patch 10.18!

The League of Legends season rolls on with more champion changes coming in Patch 10.18 along with the return of beloved game type One for All. With a few fairly significant buffs we could see champions like Ahri and Kayle returning to the top of the meta, let’s check out all the big changes that we can see in League of Legends!

One for All

"One For All returns with PsyOps on September 3rd, 2020 at 1:00PM PT. Join a team of doppelgangers as you and your teammates show off your different playstyles as the same champ (or the same playstyle, whatever!)."

Make a note on your calendar, One for All will return the day after Patch 10.18 goes live, likely when the PsyOps skins are available to purchase! Be sure to check out our One for All tier list so you know the best champions in the game mode.

Champions

Ahri

"Base StatsHEALTH REGEN: 6.5 >>> 5.5Passive – Vasatayan Grace[NEW] ESSENCE THEFT: Ahri gains an Essence Theft stack for each enemy hit by her abilities, up to a maximum of 3 per cast, and storing up to 9 at once. Upon reaching 9 stacks of Essence Theft, Ahri’s next spell consumes the stacks to heal Ahri for 3/5/9/18 (levels 1/6/11/16) (+0.09 ability power) for each enemy hit.[REM] VASTAYAN GRACE: Ahri no longer gains 20% bonus movement speed for 3 seconds when she lands 2 ability hits against a champion within 1.5 secondsQ – Orb of Deception[REM] ESSENCE THEFT: Essence Theft is now her PassiveW – Fox-Fire[NEW] FOXIER FEET: Now grants a burst of 40% movement speed decaying over 1.5 seconds at cast[NEW] MINION-FIRE: Now deals 200% damage to minions below 20% health[UPD] IMPROVED MINION TARGETING: Targeting now better prioritizes low health minions that can be killed by Fox-Fire after champions (Charmed champions are still the flames’ first priority)COOLDOWN: 9/8/7/6/5 seconds >>> 10/9/8/7/6 secondsCOST: 40 mana >>> 55 mana"

We did a deep dive into the Ahri changes ahead of Patch 10.18, which are going to make her much slippery-er to play against and add more burst to her kit. She’s consistently been an B or A tier pick in Season 10 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her jump back to the top of the meta right as those new K/DA skins are set to drop.

Ashe

"Base StatsATTACK DAMAGE: 61 >>> 59Q – Ranger’s FocusBUGFIX: Runaan’s Hurricane’s Wind’s Fury’s damage now properly takes under consideration the future levels of Ranger’s FocusVFX BUGFIX: Additional Runaan’s Hurricane bolts from Amethyst Ashe’s Q – Ranger’s Focus Runaan’s now properly use the skin’s VFX"

Putting the bugfixes aside, this is a straight-up nerf of Ashe’s base damage. 2 AD has often proved to be enough to swing champions out of the S tier, which is where Ashe sat last patch.

Galio

"Q – Winds of WarBASE DAMAGE: 80/115/150/185/220 >>> 70/105/140/175/210"

Riot is taking aim at Galio’s primary waveclear tool, which is going to hit him hard in both pro play and solo queue. He’s been a deceptively strong mid lane pick, but without the guaranteed lane priority it could be difficult for him to impact the map with his ult (pun intended).

Jarvan IV

"Q – Dragon StrikeBASE DAMAGE: 80/120/160/200/240 >>> 90/130/170/210/250"

Although the jungle meta has shifted to be a bit more farm-heavy than earlier in the season, it’s still quite odd that J4 hasn’t been even close to viable of late. With a little extra damage to his first skill max, his early ganks will be a bit deadlier.

Kayle

"Q – Radiant Blast[REM] MANA RESTORE: No longer restores 50% of the mana cost for each enemy champion hitW – Celestial BlessingCOST: 70/80/90/100/110 mana >>> 90/100/110/120/130 manaE – Starfire SpellbladeCOST: 50/55/60/65/70 mana >>> No costMISSILE SPEED: 2000 >>> 5000"

We also did a deep dive into Kayle and how her buffs could make her the premiere scaling top laner. It comes at a bit of a cost to her early game power, but her Starfire Spellblade is going to be much more reliable damage in trade.

Kog’Maw

"Base StatsHEALTH GROWTH: 90 >>> 85ARMOR GROWTH: 3.5 >>> 3.25"

Neither AP mid nor ADC Kog’Maw are really menacing in solo queue right now, but the reduced defensive stats are going to make him easier to squish. This hurts Kog more in the bot lane, where he’s likely to be facing AD champions and missing that extra 0.25 armor per level.

Miss Fortune

"Base StatsATTACK SPEED GROWTH: 2.25% >>> 3%W – StrutMAXIMUM BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED: 50/60/70/80/90 >>> 55/65/75/85/95"

Although MF is one of the best laning ADCs in the meta, we see more and more the long-ranged, utility-based marksmen like Ashe, Caitlyn, and Senna dominating both pro play and high-MMR games. I don’t expect MF will possibly be higher than B tier after these nerfs.

Rumble

"Q – FlamespitterTOTAL DAMAGE: 175/210/245/280/315 >>> 180/220/260/300/340"

Rumble is always going to be strong because of his ultimate, but with Riot giving him more damage on his Flamespitter (35 more damage at rank five!), his primary skill, that’s going to make him much more of a bully in lane too.

Sett

"Passive – Pit GritRIGHT PUNCH BONUS DAMAGE RATIO: 0.15 total attack damage >>> 0.5 bonus attack damageQ – Knuckle DownBONUS DAMAGE: 10/20/30/40/50 (+1/2/3/4/5% of target’s maximum health) (+0.01 per 100 total attack damage) >>> 10/20/30/40/50 (+0.01 of target’s maximum health) (+1/1.5/2/2.5/3% per 100 total attack damage)"

While he’s getting some more raw damage on his passive, losing that percent max HP is definitely going to hurt his dueling power, especially against other fighters and tanks.

Shen

"Passive – Ki BarrierSHIELD: 70-121 (levels 1-18) >>> 60-111 (levels 1-18)"

Shen has been a top-tier top laner for both pro play and solo queue for a few patches now. Hitting his shield strength should make him a bit more vulnerable to trading in the top lane.

Shyvana

"E – Flame Breath[UPD] DRAGON FORM EXPLOSION RADIUS: 220/240/260/280/300 (boundary check) >>> 345 (center check) (a center check with a 345 radius is about equal to a 280 radius boundary check for most targets)[UPD] DOUBLE CHECK: Dragon form visuals and cast indicator now accurately represent the ability’s radius[UPD] MAXED OUT: Dragon Form Flame Breath no longer casts at maximum range when player attempts to cast near maximum rangeDRAGON FORM GROUND ZONE DAMAGE TICK RATE: 1 second >>> 0.5 seconds (same damage per second)[UPD] DON’T DRAG IT OUT: Dragon form ground zone is now more responsive"

This is half visual update/half buff, but basically, the explosion radius of Shyvana’s fireball in dragon form is updated to be a bit wider and more accurately reflect the zone of damage to the target indicator. The range and damage haven’t changed, but it will make it a bit easier to aim and cast the ability.

Twitch

"E – ContaminateBONUS DAMAGE PER STACK RATIO: 0.2 ability power (maximum 1.2 ability power) >>> 0.333 ability power (maximum 2.0 ability power)R – Spray and PrayBOLT DAMAGE REDUCTION PER ENEMY HIT: -20% from the previous hit (minimum damage cap of 40%) >>> -5% per unit hit (minimum damage cap of 70%)"

Twitch is getting some love to the damage on his Contaminate and Spray and Pray, which should help move him out of the basement as far as ADCs go. In particular, this increased damage on his ultimate (a reduction to the reduction per enemy hit) should make him closer to the insane teamfight he was envisioned to be.

Xin Zhao

"W – Wind Becomes LightningTHRUST DAMAGE: 30/65/100/135/170 (+0.75 attack damage) >>> 40/75/110/145/180 (+0.80 attack damage)"

Like Jarvan, Xin has fallen behind in a meta that favors farming. Although this buff is designed to help Xin Zhao’s clear speed, it’s going to be felt much more in his early ganks. However, I’m not sure whether those buffs will be enough to make him a meta jungler again.

Runes

Guardian

"SHIELD RATIO: 0.25 ability power (+0.12 bonus health) >>> 0.15 ability power (+0.09 bonus health)"

Guardian is basically the go-to rune for shielding supports like Braum or Rakan who have dominated the meta. Now, it’s going to be weaker not just on the tanks like Braum, but also the Enchanters like Rakan. I would expect the rune will just no longer be taken in favor of runes like Aery or Aftershock.
